Shiba Inu dogs were originally bred for hunting. They have a foxy appearance, similar to Akita dogs, but much smaller in stature. This dog does well with active owner in a city, suburban or rural home.
Shiba Inu is a fastidious breed. These dogs often feel the need to maintain themselves in a clean state. They can often be seen licking their paws and legs, go out of their way to keep their coats clean, and avoid stepping in puddles, mud and dirt. As puppies, shiba inu are easy to housebreak, therefore this fact makes this dog a popular breed.
